Generally speaking, if you’re treating a more severe and perhaps chronic issue, than you will likely be taking a higher dosage of CBD oil. Does the color of CBD oil matter?

Yes and no. How’s that for an answer?

It matters in the sense that it the color does mean something, but no in that it isn’t like you’ll end up with ineffective or dangerous CBD oil. Allow us to explain.

The three most common hues of CBD oil that you’ll come into contact with are raw (usually a deep green shade), decarboxylated (a warm dark brown), and filtered (gold).

Raw CBD oil has not been processed or filtered and contains chlorophyll, phytochemicals, and other — you guessed it — raw plant material. This is just fine, but it also means that the oil will likely be less effective, as it has not been mixed with other cannabinoids that would assist in the processing of the plant’s benefits.

Decarboxylated CBD oil, which appears as a darker shade of brownish-orange, is a better option, as the oil has has been heated up somewhat, thereby changing the chemical components which allow the CBD portions to be activated. This means that the body will be more receptive to the benefits of the CBD.

Filtered CBD oil is the best option, as the product has been significantly refined and will include necessary cannabinoids and other compounds that assist the body in the reception of the oil and the maximization of all of the potential benefits included in the CBD oil.

Here’s the rule of thumb when it comes to CBD color: the darker or more opaque that a CBD oil product appears, the less processing it’s had — which also means that it will be of lower quality than oils with a lighter color.

What else should I keep in mind when it comes to CBD products?

While CBD products are largely safe and almost entirely composed of pros and not cons when it comes to you your health, anytime you make a change related to diet, exercise, or supplements that you’re taking, it’s important to weigh all of your options.

There are tons of products out there, so before you land on one, make sure that you’re aware of whether or not product that you’re considering is naturally-grown. Perhaps more importantly, know where it was grown and/or manufactured, too. Remember, THC is the compound with psychoactive effects that can produce a feeling of “highness”, so it’s important to double- and triple-check this particular item — especially if you’re new to any cannabis or help products.

Also, is the oil that you’re considering purchasing a full spectrum hemp oil, meaning that it is derived from the entire plant instead of just part of it? Remember, there are plenty of benefits that are only available by leveraging the plant in its entirety, as we noted earlier in the article.

Lastly, be sure to note whether or not the product that you’re selecting is flavored. If it is, it may not mesh well with any foods or drinks that you have considered adding CBD oil to. If you’re planning to just take the drops straight or perhaps add them to a beverage, a flavored oil may not be a bad idea.
